Clearer Vision, Faster Recovery with SMILE PRO®
At EyeHub, we are proud to be the only clinic in Queensland offering SMILE PRO®, a minimally invasive solution for correcting myopia and astigmatism. With a keyhole incision and advanced ZEISS VisuMax® 800 laser, SMILE PRO® delivers clearer vision with a quicker, easier recovery compared to traditional methods.
What is SMILE PRO®?
SMILE PRO® is a cutting-edge form of laser vision correction that uses a femtosecond laser to create and remove a small lens-shaped piece of corneal tissue (called a lenticule) through a tiny keyhole incision.
Unlike LASIK, SMILE PRO® doesn’t require creating a corneal flap. This makes it less invasive, reduces disruption to the eye’s surface, and speeds up recovery. With the VisuMax® 800, SMILE PRO® treatments are even faster and more comfortable than the original SMILE® procedure.
How SMILE PRO® Works
For those seeking a bladeless, minimally-invasive solution, SMILE PRO® is the answer. Exclusively performed with the ZEISS VisuMax® 800, this innovative procedure offers precision and safety without creating a corneal flap. Instead, a small tissue disc (lenticule) is removed through a tiny incision, reshaping your cornea to correct myopia and astigmatism.
The procedure allows minimal disruption to the corneal structure resulting in quick recovery, and reduced risk of dry eye compared to other procedures.
The Procedure
Step 1: Eye Assessment – Advanced diagnostics confirm your suitability and create a personalised treatment plan.
Step 2: Procedure – Anaesthetic eye drops ensure a painless experience. The laser reshapes your vision in just a few minutes per eye, with no flap required.
Step 3: Recovery – Most patients notice improved vision within 24 hours and return to daily activities within a couple of days.
Step 4: Aftercare – Follow-up visits make sure your eyes are healing well and your vision results are stable.
The Benefits of SMILE PRO®
Minimally Invasive Approach
Performed through a tiny keyhole incision, SMILE PRO® preserves more of your corneal strength and causes less disruption to the eye compared to LASIK.
Greater Comfort During and After Treatment
With no corneal flap and fewer surface nerves affected, most patients experience a gentler procedure and less irritation during recovery.
Faster Recovery Time
Thanks to the advanced ZEISS VisuMax® 800 laser, treatment is quick and precise. Many patients notice clearer vision within 24 hours and return to normal activities within a couple of days.
Reduced Risk of Dry Eye
SMILE PRO® is associated with a lower chance of developing dry eye symptoms after surgery – especially beneficial for contact lens wearers.
Long-Term Stability of Vision
SMILE PRO® provides predictable and lasting results, giving you sharper, more stable vision that endures for years.
Freedom From Glasses
Whether it’s sport, travel, or daily life, you’ll enjoy the convenience and confidence of living free from the limitations of eyewear.

How is SMILE PRO® different from LASIK?
SMILE PRO® (small incision lenticule extraction) and LASIK are both laser vision correction procedures, but they differ in technique:
- SMILE PRO®: a small disc of tissue (lenticule) is removed through a tiny incision, reshaping the cornea. No flap is created.
- LASIK: a flap is created on the cornea, lifted, and the underlying tissue is reshaped with a laser.
- SMILE PRO® is less invasive, with a smaller incision and reduced risk of dry eye compared to LASIK.
Am I a candidate for SMILE PRO®?
You may be a candidate for SMILE® if:
- You have mild to moderate myopia (nearsightedness) or astigmatism.
- Your corneas are healthy, with sufficient thickness.
- You are over 18, with a stable vision prescription for at least one year.
