Cataract and Laser Vision Correction Specialist
Dr. Sonia Moorthy is a Refractive Specialist with expertise in laser vision correction, advanced cataract surgery and next-generation lens implants, dry eye disease/IRPL, and interventional glaucoma (SLT/MIGS).
Dr. Moorthy completed her medical degree at the University of Dundee, Scotland. Dr. Moorthy subsequently pursued a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Melbourne.
Professional education
Dr. Moorthy’s ophthalmic training was completed at the Sydney Eye Hospital, followed by Refractive training at the Nethradhama Super Speciality Eye Hospital, India, with Prof Sri Ganesh, Forefront and Therapeutic Refractive Courses with Prof Dan Reinstein, London Vision Clinic, UK and completion of a Diploma in Refractive Corneal and Lens Surgery with Prof Jorge Alio, Spain.
Dr. Moorthy specialises in modern vision correction procedures, including SMILE PRO, LASIK, PRESBYOND Laser Blended Vision, PRK, and Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE).
Commitment to Innovation
Dr Moorthy leads the laser vision correction services at EyeHub and was responsible for introducing the first ZEISS VisuMax 800 Femtosecond laser platform in Queensland.
Dr. Moorthy strongly believes in merging leading technological innovation with personalised, evidence-based ophthalmic care. She is also committed to training the next generation of ophthalmologists and sits on the RANZCO Ophthalmic Sciences Board of Examiners and the RANZCO Central Trainee Selection Committee.
