Paying for laser eye surgery: payment plans, finance and health cover

Laser vision correction is a significant investment. At EyeHub we aim to keep fees transparent on our pricing page and to explain payment options clearly on our payment plans page. This article summarises those options for Sunshine Coast patients, without turning EyeHub into a finance salesperson.

Important: We do not offer credit or finance ourselves. We are not a credit provider as defined by the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth). We do not provide financial advice. We do not receive commissions or act as an agent for any finance provider. Any payment option you choose is up to you. Review the provider’s terms, fees and suitability for your circumstances. We do not guarantee availability, approval or suitability of any payment plan. EyeHub is not a broker. We do not receive financial incentives from partners.

Ways to pay at EyeHub

1. Card, bank transfer and cash

Credit and debit cards, bank transfer and cash are accepted as described on the payment-plans page.

2. Third-party providers listed on our site

EyeHub lists these Australian providers so you can explore options that may suit you:

  • MediPay: medical finance provider; conditional approval workflows are described on their materials linked from our site
  • Afterpay: shop-now pay-later style instalments (provider terms apply; fees if you miss payments)
  • Zip Pay / Zip Money: Zip Pay (lower limits) and Zip Money (higher amounts) with interest-free periods as set by Zip
  • TLC: payment plans in a published range on our site from $2,000 to $50,000, managed by their consultants

Always read the provider’s current terms. Approval is at the provider’s discretion. EyeHub does not set their interest, fees or eligibility.

3. Why we do not show “from $X per week” examples here

Australian health advertising rules expect care with instalment advertising. Any repayment figure should sit with the total payable from the provider’s own calculator, including fees and interest. Until those numbers come from the provider for your quote, we keep this article free of sample weekly amounts.

Health funds and Medicare

  • Medicare does not contribute to elective laser vision correction.
  • Private health funds may contribute depending on your cover. Check with your fund before you commit.
  • See our health funds guide for the questions to ask your fund.

Deposits and the assessment procedure

For LASIK, SMILE PRO (also known as SMILE), PRESBYOND, RLE and ICL:

  1. Free online video assessment
  2. In-person assessment with a $100 deposit (redeemable against your surgery; refunded if you are unable to proceed for medical reasons)

You will meet Dr Moorthy and discuss your options together. Once you are happy with the plan, we can book your surgery. A $2,000 deposit is required at the time of booking, with final payment due one week before surgery.

ICL patients start the same way. If laser or RLE is not suitable, Dr Moorthy may advise ICL.

Price clarity (without absolute guarantees)

We aim for the price you see to be the price you pay for the published package lines. Always check the website for current prices, or call us to discuss. RLE and ICL hospital and anaesthetic costs are confirmed at the time of surgery, and any non-packaged items are confirmed on your quote. *Prices are subject to change without notice.

Enhancements, where relevant to laser vision correction, are subject to assessment.

FAQs

Is EyeHub a broker?

No. We list third-party options for convenience. We are not a broker, we do not offer financial advice, and we do not receive financial incentives from partners.

Can I combine a health-fund benefit with a payment plan?

Sometimes people use a fund benefit toward part of the fee and finance the gap, but that is between you, your fund and the provider. Get both answers in writing.

Do you offer early release of superannuation?

We don’t promote early release of superannuation. Ask an independent adviser if you are exploring personal funding avenues outside EyeHub.

When is payment due?

Your coordinator will confirm timing against your surgery date on your quote. Do not rely on a blog for payment deadlines.
