ZEISS PRESBYOND® - Clear Vision at Every Distance

ZEISS PRESBYOND® laser blended vision (for presbyopia)

As we age, presbyopia - a loss of near focus - can make reading glasses or bifocals a necessity. At EyeHub, we are proud to be the only clinic in Queensland offering PRESBYOND® - the next-generation solution, delivering clear near, intermediate, and distance vision with minimal compromise.

Using ZEISS laser technology, PRESBYOND® provides smoother, more natural visual outcomes than standard options, with faster recovery and lasting results.

Understanding Presbyopia

From around the age of 40, many people notice their near vision starting to blur. This age-related change, known as presbyopia, happens when the natural lens of the eye loses flexibility, making it harder to focus on close objects. Reading glasses or multifocals are the most common solution, but PRESBYOND® offers a more permanent alternative.

How PRESBYOND® Works

PRESBYOND® is a laser vision correction procedure developed by ZEISS that gently reshapes the cornea using the MEL 90 excimer laser. Unlike standard LASIK, which only corrects distance vision, PRESBYOND® increases the depth of focus, giving patients clear vision at near, intermediate, and far distances.

This makes everyday activities, from reading a phone screen to driving at night, smoother and more natural, without the constant need for glasses.

Why PRESBYOND® is Different

  • Customised to you: Treatment is tailored to your eyes and prescription.

  • Seamless vision: Clear focus at all distances, reducing dependence on glasses.

  • Exclusive to EyeHub: We are the only clinic in Queensland offering this next-generation procedure.

What are the Benefits of PRESBYOND®?

Freedom from Reading Glasses

PRESBYOND® is designed to reduce or eliminate your dependence on reading glasses or multifocals. Whether it’s checking your phone, working on a computer, or reading a book, you’ll enjoy sharper near vision without constantly reaching for glasses.

Clear Vision at All Distances

Unlike traditional laser procedures that focus mainly on distance vision, PresbyOND® uses advanced laser technology to extend your depth of focus. That means smoother transitions between near, intermediate, and far distances, helping you see more naturally in every part of life.

Why Patients Choose PRESBYOND®

For many, PRESBYOND® isn’t just about seeing clearly — it’s about living more freely. Patients often describe the procedure as life-changing, allowing them to enjoy activities they thought would always require glasses.

How the Blend Zone Works

A Smarter Way to See Clearly

Most laser procedures reshape the cornea to correct distance vision, but they don’t address age-related near vision changes. PRESBYOND® works differently by creating a “blend zone” on the cornea.

This blend zone slightly increases the natural depth of focus, allowing your eyes to smoothly transition between near, intermediate, and distance vision. Instead of one sharp point of focus, or splitting your vision into near and far “zones” like multifocal lenses do, you gain a range of clear vision, which feels more natural in everyday life whether you’re reading a book, using a computer, or driving.

Patients often report that their vision feels more “normal” and easier to adjust to compared to traditional options.

Is PRESBYOND® Right for You?

PRESBYOND® is designed specifically for adults who are beginning to notice age-related changes in their vision. If you find yourself reaching for reading glasses more often, or struggling with tasks like reading your phone, computer, or a restaurant menu, this treatment could be a life-changing solution.

You May Be a Candidate If You:

  • Are over 40 years of age and experiencing blurred near vision.

  • Are tired of relying on reading glasses or multifocals.

  • Have otherwise healthy eyes, free from conditions like cataracts or advanced glaucoma.

  • Have a stable prescription that hasn’t changed significantly in the past year.

  • Want a permanent alternative to glasses or contacts for daily activities.

Because every patient’s eyes are unique, a comprehensive eye assessment is the only way to confirm if PRESBYOND® is suitable for you. Our advanced ZEISS diagnostic tools allow us to tailor the procedure to your individual vision needs, ensuring the safest and most effective outcome.

How is PRESBYOND® different from traditional monovision LASIK?

PRESBYOND® is a next-generation approach to correcting presbyopia. Unlike traditional monovision LASIK, which prioritises one eye for distance and the other for near vision, PRESBYOND® creates a blended vision zone that enhances depth of field for seamless focus across near, intermediate, and distance ranges.

It leverages advanced algorithms and the precision of the ZEISS MEL 90 laser for a highly personalised treatment tailored to your unique eye measurements.

Am I a candidate for PRESBYOND®?

You are likely a candidate for PRESBYOND® if:

  • You are over 40 and experiencing presbyopia (difficulty focusing on near objects).
  • You want to reduce or eliminate dependence on reading glasses or bifocals.
  • You have no significant eye conditions such as cataracts or uncontrolled dry eye.

A detailed consultation and assessment will confirm your eligibility.

How long does it take to adjust to PRESBYOND® blended vision?

Most patients adapt to the blended vision created by PRESBYOND® within a few days to weeks.

The brain naturally learns to combine the visual input from both eyes into a single, clear image.

During the adaptation period, you may notice slight visual imbalances, but these typically resolve quickly.

What are the key benefits of PRESBYOND® over other treatments?

PRESBYOND® offers several advantages:

  • Enhanced versatility: it corrects presbyopia while addressing other refractive errors like myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
  • Custom personalisation: each treatment is uniquely tailored based on your eyes’ measurements, ensuring precision and comfort.
  • Minimal downtime: recovery is quick, with most patients returning to normal activities within 24-48 hours.
  • Future-proof technology: powered by ZEISS’ advanced laser systems, PRESBYOND® represents the cutting edge of presbyopia correction.
